Karl Ziegler Young Polymer Scientists Scholarship
Established in 2013 by the collaborative research center (CRC)/ Transregio 102, the “Karl Ziegler Young Polymer Scientists Scholarship” supports highly motivated master students in one of the most prominent centers for polymer research in Germany.
With the international graduate scholarship we adress outstanding master students in the 2nd and 3rd semester of their Master course “Polymer Materials Science” at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg. “Karl Ziegler Young Polymer Scientists” will receive a personal scholarship of 400 € per month for up to 12 months.
Karl Ziegler is most renowned for the development of the “Ziegler-Natta-Catalyst”. This is essential for the production of polyolefins such as HDPE, but also of isotactic polypropylene (i-PP). For his discovery Karl Ziegler received the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1963. During his time he was professor and director of the institute of chemistry in Halle (Saale) (see nobelprize.org). In memory of his outstanding achievements in polymer science, the “Karl Ziegler Young Polymer Scientists Scholarship” is awarded to outstanding students.
